What is a halving?
Every 210,000 blocks (~4 years), the reward miners earn for adding a new block to the Bitcoin blockchain is cut in half. This built-in supply cap mechanism ensures Bitcoin's total supply never exceeds 21 million coins. Historically, halvings have preceded major bull markets by 6–18 months — though past performance never guarantees future results.
